Hi, Sorry for the confusion in the documents. Information in SWCA025 is correct. The information in SWCU052A will be corrected. In TPS65930/20 the battery charging capability was removed and in the documentation everything related to charging was taken away including the back-up battery. However...

Customer question: Q: Can we consider that connecting a back-up battery will keep the PMIC RTC powered even if the main battery is unconnected? A: Yes, please refer to the state diagram in the Resets and Power Management chapter in the TRM.

Hello, Is the TPS65950 32KCLKOUT output enabled when the TPS65950 is in the "battery backup" mode (i.e., when the power source for the TPS65950 is the battery)? Regards, John D. Schaefer

Hi, The TRM is missing some information for backup battery. You can refer to the TRM section for TPS65950 for backup battery. I am in the process of correcting the TRM and will make the changes. The four voltages you specified are for end-of-charge for the backup battery. For backup battery to...

How to enable the resistive divider on backup battery for MADC (ADCIN9)? I can't find it in TRM, and can read the correct value from GPCH9_MSB & GPCH9_LSB . Thanks! Antony

Antony, You are right. BB_CFG value will reset. Only those registers retain value which are mentioned as (backup domain). BB_CFG is not part of this. Regards, Gandhar.

    Gandhar Dighe Gandhar Dighe
Hi, This should not happen. Have you tried checking STOP_ON in RTC_CTRL_REG. If the RTC is ON this should be '1'. BACKUP should also be '1' as you have 2.5V on that pin. Does the backup voltage go low for a short period? You may want to continuously probe it when you remove VBAT...

Hi John, I can confirm that the backup battery charging is done by setting the BBCHEN bit. However, on the software side I dont know how this is done. From your comments it looks like you searched thru the code and found this driver. If that is the only place where you find then yes, that is the only...

    Daniel Schurr Daniel Schurr
Hi, in the datasheet of the TPS65950, the recommended operating maximum ratings of "BKBAT" are min 1,8V and max 3,3V. If a user insert the backup-battery wrong, the voltage at BKBAT is -3,0V. Will this negative voltage destroy the IC or is a protection circuit inside? (In my schematic a...

We are designing a system that has a fairly hefty backbup battery, 500 mAH Li-ion. This system has its own power management circuitry, and we plan to control the power to the module which contains an OMAP3530 and a TPS65930 with our own power mosfet. When main power is removed, we plan to keep...
