Customer questions. Q: With the completely exhausted battery, our application is expected to work with VBUS, with a shorter charge (say about 10 min) [GD] With completely exhausted battery the device will be OFF. In this state USB charger cannot function. USB charger will be good only in ACTIVE state...

Hi Suresh, Do you have a battery in your system? Iif not, Why do not you use the Charger to regulate the Power for your system. You will save one LDO. Of course, if AUDIO and some other function are not used, you need to re-calculate your max power consumption. Example: VINTANA2 will be close...

What current can the VBUS pin support on the TPS65930? It looks like the charge pump is limited to 450mA, but in other places it mentions 100mA. Also, how do you enable VBUS (or the charge pump)? Is it autodetect?

Based on my understanding, if VBUS is not present, the session will not be started in a peripheral. Can this be overridden via software? Thanks, Wade

Hi Daniele, In this case the device VBUS pad can be connected to the USB connector so that device comparators can be used to sense the VBUS voltage. Please ensure that the charge pump is off. If the device is set for OTG function then it really doesn't matter who is supplying the 5V as the host...

Hi, You can check the following manual sequence: Step 1 (Set D+ low and check if D- also goes low): Set OTGCTRL=2 (DMPULLDOWN=0|DPPULLDOWN=1) Set FUNC_CTRL=0x41 (SUSPENDM=1|OPMODE=0|TERMSELECT=0|XCVRSELECT=1) Read DM_HI in OTHER_INT_STS Step 2 (Set D+ high and check if D- also goes high): Set OTGCTRL...

Hi Sairam, If there is inconsistency then I am assuming that you have the SW configured correctly and problem may be due to HW. There are three setting in SW that you need - all USB LDOs active, DRVVBUS='1' and HFCLK active. With these settings you should be able to see correct voltage...

Hi, Yes, you can connect it the way you said. The reason for this is, it will be possible for the device and OMAP to detect VBUS. When you have external VBUS, ensure that the internal CP is not turned ON by software. Regards, Gandhar.

I want to know what will happen when the PMUs VBUS charge pumps are off and 5V appears on VBUS pin (5V that is not generated by the PMU)? Will it harm the PMU? Will there be excessive leakage current by the part? Or is there any other reason I should reconsider this topology? My motive is using VBUS...

Hi Anubhav, The OMAP has to be in communication with PMIC to get the optimum setting of charging current . There's a special situation we need to add external 75kohm resistor on VBUS as below. Hi, From PMIC side everything will be ok. USB communication will be independent of VBUS supply. However, you may want to check if this is ok with OMAP. OMAP may need VBUS detection or something from PMIC for the LINK to function correctly. You may want to check this on OMAP side and see if such scenario...

The VBUS pin of the TPS65950 on our board is at 3.1V and I can't figure out why. There's nothing besides the TPS65950 attached to the VBUS line that would drive a voltage, so it must be coming from the VBUS pin on the TPS65950, but I can't see why that voltage is present. The TPS65950 TRM...
