Looking for TPS2375x OrCAD POE PD reference design files

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP

Hi,

I'm looking for OrCAD (or other tool) source files for an isolated POE PD design with 5V or 3.3V 2A output using one of the TI TPS2375x chips.  I could not find the files in any of the reference designs on ti.com.  Maybe it's in part of another reference design for a VoIP phone or something like that.  Any directions you can give me would be most helpful.

Thanks

Ron Kieley

  • I can provide the schematic/PCB/gerber source files (most likely in PCAD 2004 or possibly PADS 9.3). PCAD schematic can export to ORCAD, but the export may have a few errors such as missing component symbols (I can provide the PDIF export file).

As far as which reference design, if you have one in mind (either TI orderable EVM or "PMP" type reference design on the web) let me know and I can provide the source files. The first to come to mind is either TPS23753EVM-001 or -002 (5V, 1.4A or 3.3V, 2A respsecively) or TPS23753EVM-003 or -004 (5V, 2A or 3.3V, 3A). I've attached both PCAD 2004 schematic files.

  • I have attached the EVM gerber files for both EVMs.

  • Hello Eric,

Thank you for your sharing. Can you also share the PCB design files (TPS23753EVM-001)? We want to use the referance design in a fast manner, in our gateway test design.

We want 5V and 3.3V@1A sources in our circuit. Do you suggest a 3v3 reg for using PoE specific applications?

    Regards,

    Alpay
  • Hi Alpay,

Please see attached PCB design file in PCAD.

5V and 3.3V solutions are common in PoE. You can use either one based on the BOM change for this EVM and add a point of load buck or boost for the other rail. The efficiency performance will be similar either way.

  • Hi Darwin,

Thank you for the PCB design file and the suggestion. For getting 3.3V I will try buck after this circuit.

  • Hi,

I have tried TPS23753EVM-001 board. It can be powered both PoE and a wall adapter. The source priority is given to wall adapter but when I applied 12V@1A it still gets power from PoE. I tested and found that when I apply 16.3V from the wall adapter input it switches the power source and no more need PoE power. What is the reason?  Do I have to change R1 and R2 values to use with an 12V adapter?

    Regards,

    Alpay

  • Hi Alpay,

The power source you get from PSE or adapter is depend on APD pin.

If APD voltage is higher than 1.5V, it will get power from adapter.

This EVM is design for when adapter Vin above 24V, it can get power from adapter.

Or DEN pin connect to VSS, it  can also disable the internal hotswap. Get the power from adapter.
