Can you provide an Excel worksheet that simplifies the design of the LM25066? Thanks.

Hi David,

As you have seen, there is no design tool for the LM25066, however, there is an EVM for the very similar LM5006: http://www.ti.com/general/docs/lit/getliterature.tsp?literatureNumber=snva487&fileType=pdf .

Also, looking at the Power Management tools, I see an SDK for the LMx5066 family: http://www.ti.com/analog/docs/toolsoftware.tsp?familyId=64&toolTypeId=1 , but unfortunately, clicking on the link LM25066, LM5066, LM5064, LM25056 PMBus Manager GUI comes up empty. I will research this and see what I can find, but for now, see if you can use the EVM documentation.

Yes, I'll work on the design files, and in the meantime, look what I see just got posted on the webpage for the LM5066: LM5066 Quick Start Component Calculator : http://www.ti.com/litv/zip/snvu080 , an Excel file as you first requested!

The LM25066 (and the LM25066I) has an evaluation board and I believe that if you download the controlling software, there's a calculator included that helps put you derive some of the values. I'll see if I can get the gerbers for the LM25066 (or LM25066I) and post them here.

In the interim, there are application notes on both of these evaluation boards that can be found (and there should be printouts of the four-layer boards):

TI Team,

Thank you very much for the quickly reply. The spreadsheet is exactly what I was hoping your team had created--outstanding!

As for the design files, the prinouts on the application notes are low quality, so it would be extremely helpful to get the original board files that I can view on Allegro Open GL.

I just noticed that the link to the EVM software doesn't currently work (I know that they just changed versions). It's being checked on now.

I'm working on getting the gerbers (the board was generated on Altium, but if Allegro can read the raw gerbers, it shouldn't be a problem).

If you want to use it as a design tool, click on the wrench icon and select the LM25066 as the part. Start at the first step to use the tool.

Dear Joseph,

I do not manage to download the SW you mention from there: www.ti.com/.../pmbusmgrgui-sw
Do you know any other place where I could find it ? I purchased the LM25066evk eval board over a year ago and I do not have the CD any more. I must also admit that I do not find any wrench to click on on the page you are referring to.

I thank you in advance for any help you will be able to provide.

If you need the PMBus based GUI to run the LM25066 EVM, go to www.ti.com/hotswap . Click on the Tools & software tab and download PI-Commander. Be sure to install the drivers that will be accessible on the start icon under: Texas Instruments_PI Commander_Advanced_FTDI
