PoE design with Pulse PA1558 Transformer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP8408

Hello,

I am designing a PD system that operates on type 2 (25W) and requires system rails of 12V, 5V, 3.3V.  I was curious if there is any reference design that would accomodate this.  The PA1558 transformer has 3 parallel outputs of 11.2V, 5V, 3.3V...so this would be ideal to use.  However, all the reference designs I find in TI PoE support documentation are for 5V and 3.3V output.  How difficult would it be to adjust these designs to accomodate the PA1558?

Thanks,
Joe

  • Hi Joe,

You can take a look at PMP8408 as a reference to look at an example (Class 3) circuit design (10V,5V,3.3V).

Unfortunately, we currently do not have a higher power class 4 example in our portfolio. These deisgns usually regulate the lowest rail 3.3V. You can start with a 3.3V reference design where its transformer has similar specs as the PA1558. This might be the best way to start.
