We are planning to use the part LM5050MK-1/NOPB in one of our upcoming applications.
We are planning to use it in an Active OR-ing scheme.
We are planning to use the scheme shown in Figure 25 OR-ing with MOSFETs.
Design parameters are given below:
a. The N-FET planned to be used is CSD17313Q2Q1.
b. Voltage at IN of 1st LM5050-1= 12V
c. Voltage at IN of 2nd LM5050-1= 5V
d. Load current is 1A.
e. The OFF pin is not connected in both the controllers.
We have the below mentioned queries:
1. Would this Active OR-ing scheme work for our mentioned design parameters?
2. What would the voltage drop across LM5050-1 for the 12V path?
3. What would the voltage drop across LM5050-1 for the 5V path?
4. Even if OFF pin is not used will a load current of 1A flow through the external FET?
5. Can you provide some webench files for simulating this design?
6. If the above scheme is not appropriate please suggest alternate Active Power OR-ing scheme.
