Hi,
Quoting the datasheets of TPS203x,
' The OC open-drain output is asserted (active low) when an overcurrent or overtemperature condition is encountered. The output will remain asserted until the overcurrent or overtemperature condition is removed.'
However, on testing this feature by artificially creating overcurrent condition, it was observed that the OC pin of TPS2031 went LOW only momentarily while that of TPS2030 did not go LOW at all. The other features of TPS that were expected during overcurrent conditions worked fine, for instance, the maintaining of constant output current and reduction of the output voltage of the device.
What is the possible reason for this?
Test Conditions:
TPS2030/1 connected between the output of a voltage regulator and a load (potentiometer). On lowering the resistance of the potentiometer, the current gradually increased, until it went well beyond the overcurrent threshold.
