In the datasheet, it shows the power limit.

May I know the definition of power limit, I²xR_ON or others?

Power limit VIN: 12 V, COUT = 1000 μF, EN: 3 V → 0 V 3 5 7.5 W

You got is right...

The power limit in the data sheet is the power dissipation limit on the FET for this to be in SOA.

This is defined by following ways-

Id x Rds = Vds x Ids =Vds^2/Rds
