The ouput voltage issue on TPS2553

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2553

Dear all,

My customer is using TPS2553 in their mother board. When they pull high the EN pin and short the Vout to GND. The output voltage and current are shonw as below. The output voltage will reach -360mV. So is it normal? if this will damage the part or not, because I see the maximum output voltage is from -0.3V to 7V from datasheet.

The green one is output voltage and the red one is output current.

BR,

Eric

  • -0.3V is the DC voltage, and this peak voltage is ok for TPS2553, and the negative is from the output inductance, duirng short current off, it will dirve output to see some undershoot, if increase the output cap that would lower this undershoot.

  • Hi Milo,

Thanks for your reply. I still have two questions need your comments.1. what's the maximum undershoot voltage? how long it will be damaged under the maximum undershoot voltage? 2. Do we have any case about this damage caused by negative undershoot?

    BR,

    Eric
