TPS23750 with AC adapter 5V input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23750, TPS23753A, TIDA-00079

 Hello guys,

Our customer is evaluating TPS23750. But now they want to add 5V AC adapter input as another power input,

I thought that TLC23753A could be used for that. But it is seems to be that TPS23753A adapter input minimum

voltage is about 10V. So the device can't to support 5V adapter input.

If TI has any device which can support 5V adapter input, could you please tell me?

If TI doesn't have such device, I will suggest our customer to use ORing device like the following

refference design.

 TIDA-00079

 www.tij.co.jp/.../tida-00079 00079&tisearch=Search-JP-Everything

if you know better solution the above, could you please let me know?

 Best regards,

 Kazuya Nakai.

  • Nakai-san,

I don't believe I have seen a PD+PWM controller in the industry that is 5V input capable. Having the 5V at the input of the DCDC converter makes the converter design very difficult. This why as you recommended in TIDA-00079, for low output voltage adapters, it should be ORed with the output of the DCDC converter.
  • Hello Darwin,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I understood there was no PD+PWM device can be used with 5V input.
I will recommend our customer to use ORing device.

Thank you again and best regards,
    Kazuya Nakai.
