LM74610-Q1 / input minus 600V surge

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM74610-Q1

Hello,

If the -600V of minus surge is occured at VIN of LM74610-Q1, the voltage within absolute maximum input ?
Since the LM74610-Q1 absolute maximum voltage reference is not GND and there is the Body Diode of FET between Anode and Cathode pins , can we input -600V surge at Vin ?

There is the TVS on the typical application, should  we protect the LM74610-Q1 from minus surge? Or this TVS is used for load of LM74610-Q1?

Best Regards,

  • Hi Asaka-san,
The LM74610 has a maximum negative voltage limit of -45V, which is the abs max value. If your input supply spikes down to -600V, you definitely need a -TVS to clamp this voltage down to ~-30V or lower. LM74610 does't have a positive voltage limitation but you might need to protect your MOSFET from transients because LM74610 doesn't block positive transients.
So for negative spikes over -45V, we recommend using -TVS as shown in the application section. If you don't need a positive TVS, replace it with a signal diode.
