floating reference for tps2492

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2492

Hi,

I am using TPS2492 to monitor my instrument power supply and limit current, it works perfectly.

Now I want to use it to my 400Vdc power supply, datasheet said it can only go 80V, my question is

May I use floating reference design ( like Tidu833.pdf High Voltage 12 V – 400 V DC Current Sense Reference
Design) on this product? for example set floating reference ground to 360V.

Thanks

  • Hi Tom,

    Welcome to the E2E forums!

400V design becomes difficult for high side hot swap controllers. Will discuss with our team but overall I don't believe the TPS2492 can use a similar topology because the resistance on the IC_GND will affect the controller's ability to discharge the GATE.

Will get back to you by the end of the week if we have a concept for an alternate solution (such as 1-chip or 2-chip).

    Thanks!

  • Hi Tom,

I reviewed it with our team and unfortunately we do not see a reasonable way to create a 400V high side hot swap design using our existing controllers.

    Thanks,

    Alex
