LM5060: Can LM5060 be used for direct interfacing to the vehicle ignition system?

Part Number: LM5060

Dear Sir/Madam,

Can I check if LM5060 is able to interface directly to the vehicle ignition system?

Can it withstand Vin = 42V, found device shutdown when 42V supply?

we are following the TI reference design available at: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/tiduc41/tiduc41.pdf

 Best regards,
kpk

  • kpk,

The LM5060-Q1 is an automotive qualified device capable of operation from 5.5v to 65v. A diode and cap from Vinput to Vin on the IC will allow momentary operation to lower Vin voltage during line sag.  See fig 41 of the DS for reverse polarity protection.
