LM5050-2: LM5050-2

Part Number: LM5050-2

Hello,

I have a question about LM5050-2,the datasheet said MOSFET should be a N-MOS,

and I think  when the mosfet conduction,it will be drain-to-source as Vds ,but why  the

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS and PIN DESCRIPTIONS in datasheet said source as input,

drain as output for N-mos,please help, thank!

  • MosFET is an NFET. Source needs to be on the input side so that the body diode anode to cathode is input to output, like an ORing diode would be. This is how when the FET is turned off due to a failed input, the output is isolated from the input by the reversed polarity body diode. FETs will conduct in both directions.
