LM5069: LM5069-2 IC Not Functioning by Drawing > 200mA Load

Part Number: LM5069

Hi Ti,

Over voltage, under voltage and polarity protection is tested fine with LM5069MM-2 but when connect the output to the load that takes more than 200mA the IC is not functioning.

The design of the schematic is based on the calculation from the datasheet. Based on the datasheet the Rpwr is power limit resistor but seems it has no effect on the output current. Also changed Mosfet to a lower RDSon but it doesn’t help as well.

Can you please advise what is other possibilities to look into on resolving this problem?

  • Hi,

I'm not sure if you're aware of our easy-to-use hotswap calculator tools. Could you please provide our design calculator tool with this device and attach? This will help review and troubleshoot your design, and would greatly speed up the back-forth communication of questions we would have for information needed for the review (such as total output cap including anything connected downstream from the output node, which may not be shown on a partial schematic).

You can find it by going to www.ti.com/hotswap ==> click on “Tools & software” ==> then click on “Hot Swap design calculator tools”

For help on filling out the excel spreadsheet, we have video tutorials. They explain how to enter the correct values cell by cell. The videos are at www.ti.com/hotswap ==> Click on “Support & Training” tab.

After filling out the tool, attaching (or screenshot) of the schematic would be helpful. I hope this helps :-)

    Best Regards,

    Aramis P. Alvarez
