IC for POE Application in PSE Device (Power on Ethernet application)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23861, TPS2388, TIDA-00290

Hi

Can you suggest IC with below feature, application

Application :- Will be used in UPOE PSE Device  (Power on Ethernet)

Port :- Can Support up to 4 Port

Type:-  UPOE  type ,where each Port source 60W ( or as per UPOE standard)

  • Hey Kunal,

The TPS23861 is a 4-port device that supports UPOE. In order to supply 4 UPOE ports, you will need two TPS23861s, as each UPOE port requires two ports from the PSE.

Alternatively, you could use a TPS2388, an eight port device that can support up to 4 UPOE ports. This device will RTM soon. Please send me your email address and I will send you a copy of the TPS2388 datasheet.

    Thanks,

    Jake Smith

  • Hi Jake

Thanks for your suggestion, My email id is kunal.barot@cimconlighting.com

    What does "RTM" mean here.

Any reference design , that can help how UPOE used by this IC, Any evaluation board ?

PS:- I also get one response form Mr Thomas Amlee state "while we do not have a PSE that support UPOE directly, we do have a TI design, TIDA-00290, which uses a 4 pair configuration on two of its ports to supply 60W each" AnY Comment on this.
  • Hi Kunal,

RTM just means "Release to Market."

I did not want to steer you away from the TPS2388, so I took my post down. Also, the TPS23861 does support UPoE 60W sourcing, as featured in TIDA-00290.

    Best,
    Thomas Amlee
  • Hi Thomas

    Thanks for info,
    1. TPS2388 is RTM yet, and i couldn't find any data sheet of it on TI website, Can you please send the datasheet to me on kunal.barot@cimconlighting.com, Alos How can i get some sample of it and when this is expected to fully available for customer to use.

    2. As I know UPOE is Cisco propriety standard , Any one check TPS23861 UPOE PSE or TPS 2388 UPOE PSE with Cisco UPOE PD devices.
