CSD97376 rise/fall time vs. RBOOT

Is there an easy way to predict rise/fall times for a given bootstrap resistor with parts like the CSD97376?  Or do I just need to experiment?  Any practical upper limit to this resistance (other than the obvious increase in power dissipation)?

The datasheets basically do not address the inclusion of a resistor here.

I'm switching at ~240kHz and only 2-5 amps current, and would like to trade some efficiency for lower EMI.

Thanks!

  • Peter,

I have forwarded this to our applications team for our Power Stage devices. We will see what they come back with. Thanks for posting.

  • Peter,

This is the response i got.

"We suggest a bootstrap resistor up to 4.7Ohm. CSD97376 has an optimized driver so that the ringing should be very low with a minimized input loop. It is important to follow our suggestions for the input cap placements on the datasheet to obtain good ringing. If ringing is still as low as required, we suggest to add a light snubber such as 1Ω+330pF. Thanks!"
