Developing BLDC motor driver! Suggest MOSFET'S in KCS/To-92

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD19501KCS, CSD19534Q5A, CSD19533KCS

Hello friends,

I am new here and this is my first activity here. I am developing a BLDC motor driver using hall sensors . The mosfets are required for the CD-ROM BLDC motor (upgraded-- actually I had changed the magnets and winding to achieve high RPM and torque).

Can anyone suggest me mosfets having following specifications and available in TI's product list.

1. able to drive 12-15V and 4A current.

2. please suggest both N and P type.

3. it would be best if available in KCS/ TO-92 package.

  • Darhmendra,

The most important question in selecting the FET will be what kind of breakdown voltage do you need. What voltage rail is the motor running on?

Also, I assume the 4A of current is a typical value. What is the most this could spike up to?

For a current this low, you probably don't need a TO-220 (KCS) device. Any reason you were leaning that direction?

  • hey Bertt,

I got it what u want to convey. Now I am here with the research.

    For N channel Mosfet

    Drain-Source Voltage VDS =100 V

    Gate-Source Voltage VGS = ± 20 V

    Continuous Drain Current ( at V(gs)=10V ) is ID  = 14 A.

    Pulsed Drain Current   I DM = 50A

    For P channel Mosfet

    Drain-Source Voltage VDS =-100 V

    Gate-Source Voltage VGS = ± 20 V

    Continuous Drain Current ( at V(gs) =  -10V ) is ID  = -14 A.

    Pulsed Drain Current   I DM = -50A

....... if u suugest me mosfet of these specificetions.... then package doesn't maytter..

    Thanks

  • hey Brett

    :) , found N type mosfets... http://www.ti.com/product/csd19501kcs

BUT don't able to find P channel mosfet.

    if u could.

    Thanks

  • Dharmendra,

Unfortunately, we do have any higher voltage MOSFETs at this time. The highest voltage P-Channel MOSFET we have currently is -25V. If you require 100V N-Channel MOSFETs, I suggest you look here.

    http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/power-management/n-channel-mosfet-transistor-products.page#p267=100;100

Your best bet is probably the CSD19534Q5A as this will be able to sufficiently handle your current demands. If you prefer a TO-220 device, I would recommend the CSD19533KCS.

  • Its ok. brett. I will manege them from elsewhere.

btw would you please provide me the link where the P mosfet available. There are only N channel mosfet, I able to find.

    Thanks,
