Longer leads for CSD19536KCS

Hi,

I would need longer leads for my application for this particular MOSFET. Currently the length is 12.7mm-14.73mm; however, we need 16.7mm-18.73mm. Is it possible?

If yes, then how much would it cost for 360,000 units per annum?

Regards,

Govinda

  • Govind,
This would require setting up a new part, with a new lead frame and several $100k of investment on our end. As such, I don't think it is something we can support.

Can you help us understand why you require longer leads?
  • Hello Mr. Brett Bar,

It is required to maintain 3mm gap between PCB top surface and MOSFET clip. Please see image below.

To achieve required 3mm gap, we would need longer length leads.

    Govind.

  • Hello Mr. Brett Bar,

We have one more query on the same topic. But this time query is related to PCB through hole diameter.
As we indicated in above diagram, we are planning to assemble 18 MOSFETs on heat sink and place it on the PCB.
Due to mechanical tolerance issues, we would like have larger diameter Through hole on the PCB for MOSFETs leads.

As per our existing footprint , through hole dia is 1.35 mm. Noe we would want to increase it to 1.75 mm.

    Concerns:
We are planning to have wave soldering process for soldering the MOSFETs. We have a concern that, due to large diameter through hole, solder may not completely filled in the hole which leads to DFM issues.

Could you please help us by sharing your inputs?

    Regards,
    Govind.
  • Govind,

I bounced this off of our layout guys and they didn't think you should have any problems. Specifically, I got this response:

"Should be no issue, since this is T/H and wave soldering"
