variation of Rds(on) with temperature

Just a heads up. The variation of resistance with temperature is fairly consistent from part to part, as documented in the data set I sent. However, part to part variation of resistance at room temperature can be a bit higher. Typically this will probably be about 5 - 10% but just keep in mind that resistance of any one given part can be as high as the max value guaranteed by the datasheet.

This is something I've considered but finding an effective way to account for this has been difficult. I've thought of buying a surplus and testing the circuit at a certain current and voltage drop to determine the on-resistance. 

Is there any other way you would recommend to account/test for this?

Unfortunately, we can only guarantee what is in the datasheet. Many designs use the max resistance as a worse case scenario, but the typical value is much more reflective of what type of resistance you will actually see most of the time.
