CSD25485F5: Conduction through gate protecting uni-directional ESD diode

Part Number: CSD25485F5
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD25310Q2

Hello,

Regarding CSD25485F5:

I've noticed what appears to be some undesirable conduction when the mosfet's gate is brought above its source. What appears to be a uni-directional ESD protection diode is depicted in the mosfet's datasheet inside the "top view" diagram.

1.) Am I correct that this is indeed intended to represent a uni-directional as opposed to a bi-directional ESD diode, and that this might be the source of the conduction?

2.) Towards the goal of eliminating this gate-to-source conduction, can you recommend a replacement for this part which either: has bi-directional ESD diode or no diode at all. Some increase in package size is acceptable, but the low Vgs(th), and Ciss is important.

Thanks,

Mark
