CSD95378BQ5M: 2 Different date codes - one not working properly

Part Number: CSD95378BQ5M

Hello

I have a 50A design using the CSD95378BQ5M.  I have 6 boards that are working fine and 10 that are not.

The only difference is the date codes.....  The current draw is very low at less than 2A

The ones that are working have the following on the parts:

95378BM

TI 441

ADGR E4

The ones that get very hot and force the Power Good to drop out:

95378BM

TI 733

ZNLO E3

  • Nick,

This is a very strange issue. I do not believe there were ever any silicon changes made to this part, so there should be no verifiable difference in performance by date code.

Can you verify the source that you obtained both parts through?

  • OK....

So it seems like the assemblies with the new date code also placed a wrong value resistor on the BOOT / BOOT_R feedback circuit.

Changed it to the proper resistor value and now it is working fine.

Sorry for the panic.  It was just strange that one date code worked and the other did not.

    Thanks
