CSD19536KTT: Could 3 pcs CSD19536 be used in parallel in Hot-Swap application?

Part Number: CSD19536KTT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD19536

Hi,

We are designing a hot-swap, wonder to know if 3 pcs CSD19536 could be used in parallel? According d/s of Hot-Swap controller, there is only source/sink current spec, not sure how to determine here?

Thanks,

-Rocky

  • Rocky,
Thanks for the question. Let me check with the Hot Swap team and get back to you.
  • Rocky,
We do not recommend paralleling MOSFETs for Hot Swap applications . This is because you would need exactly the same threshold voltage for each device for the MOSFETs to share the power evenly. This is not possible as there is always a small variations in threshold voltage variation even within a production lot code. Which means even with 3 devices in parallel, a single device would end up taking all the power as it turns on sooner with the lowest threshold voltage. You need to find a single mosfet that is capable of handling all the power.
