John, As Eero points out, the TPS27322 will drive the IRF740, but will do so extremely quickly. Most likely you'll be better served with a smaller driver such as the TPS27424dual 4A driver, which will give you 10ns of turn-on time or the TPS2829, that will switch at a more reasonable 20ns.

Hello, I made an hbridge using TPS2836 and CSD16404. The schematic is shown below. It does not work properly and I have a few questions about it. It would be great if you can point out where the design is wrong. 1. I gave a VDD-GND of 5V and tried to give the voltages 3.3V (signifying a logical...

  • Forum Post: high speed switch needed looking for optimum MOSFET

I am trying to design and test a high speed driver. The basic requirement: the driver is working with a 5 V supply. It must be able t o sink 2Amps when on. The switch rate is 10nS on 10nS off. the rise/fall time needs to be less than 2nS. I could not paste a pdf of the schematic but in essence it...

I'm using the UCC27322D mosfet driver. It's output is rated for a peak amerage of 9 amps. I've been bench testing one for a number of hours, and just now smoked it. I mean it was glowing cherry red before I turned it off. But it has worked just fine for about 6 or 7 hours so far. When I put...
