Hi,

What importance has the correct value of capcitance have on the input of the PT6642?

It recommends a  330uF, but I have seen lower values used.

I am investigating why the input of the PT goes short.

If you dont use the remote sense as a true remote sense, ie at the load,

can you tie it local ground instead?

I am aware that the product is on the NRDR list.

Is there a time frame for end of supply?

Peter

PT6642x is on the NRND list. There is no time frame for its continued availability.

    1. The remote sense can be either  open or connected to ground

    2. The required input capacitance is 560uF. Any less capacitance affect operation and its long term reliability. The schematic is attached.

    3. PT6642 does not have over-current protection or over temperature protection..Any excessive output current or high temperatures which exceed the published thermal limits(SOA data) can overstress the module.

    The thermal data is below.
