Hello.

I've bought 7 pieces of the DCP010515 for testing. However I've managed to damage 5 of them even before implementing in my circuit. I've used them with great caution, but they died one after another.

I was testing one by one. Connecting them to the proper input/output capacitors and loading with resistors. At first everything was fine the voltages were pretty stable - between 16V and 13.8V. But after literally a few minutes of operation something happened. The output voltage varied between 30V and was falling to 7V at only 1kOhm load. This change is permanent. I've tested the output on an oscilloscope and there are no spikes  - the output capacitors do their filtering well. The chip itself is not heating at all. I have no idea what's happening.

Since the chips were powered from a stabilized 5V source, and have thermal and short-circuit protection, I'm begining to wonder if it's not a factory defect. I did buy them from the same local reseller, so he may have an entire damaged reel.

Or maybe there's a more simple explanation to this problem ? Is it possible for the chip to get damaged this way by, let's say, removing load, or output capacitors ?

    Wojciech Andrysiewicz;

    I have several question regarding the application.

    1. What is the complete part number for DCP010515 including all suffix?Is it an SMT (U) or through hole part? If SMT was the converter reflowed ?

    2. What is the application? is it a Motor drive circuit?  Is there a referenced  high AC or DC  voltage on the entire isolated secondary  output  ground  as compared to primary 5V input bus.

    Send me your contact information . My e-mail address is tguerin@ti.com

    Tom
