Reverse Voltage on PTH08T220 output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA226, PTH08T220W

Hello!

Generally this is allways a bad Idea but if i might ask this rather silly question.

Is it possible to apply ~35mA at 5V on the output of the module when 12V are present at VIn and Inibit is pulled low for periods of a few milliseconds?

The intendet sequence would be:

1. pull inhibit low

2. apply 5V through the 150Ohm resistor R7

3. measure the bus voltage using the INA226

3. disconnect the 5V through R7 and enable the PTH08T220

This is intendet to not just rely on the short circuit protection of the DCDC module on case of a load fault before enabling the output of the DCDC module.

Greetings,

Peter

  • PTH08T220W when 12V is applied to Vin and the inhibit pin is grounded can have a voltage applied. . The module may function as a prebias votlage applied.

However if the bleeder 5V residual voltage is still present on Vout after inhibit pin is released, there may be a transient over shoot present when Vout is functiuonal.
