Over temperature Protection threshold value for PTH Power Modules

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE62005

Hi,

I am using PTH08T250WAD, PTH08T230WAD and PTH08T220WAD in my design. The design board bring up and Acceptance Testing are successfully finished with the assistance of TI Forum. Now we are in the stage of Environmental testing. We have observed following points and I need your help in addressing this observation.

1. Initially we did not give any cooling arrangement (FAN) for the board. In that case If we run the application for more than 30 minutes, the die temperature of ALTERA FPGA and TI's Clock synthesizers (CDCE62005) were going upto 85-90 deg C and FPGA was powering OFF.

2. We have checked the voltages and we found lesser values than the designed value. So we powered off the system.

3. After we powered ON, the system working fine.

4. So we asked FPGA manufacturer about the temperature threshold for shut-down and it was 100 deg C.

5. If I provide the FAN, this observation was not seen though I run the application for 24 hrs.

5. The  PTH modules also have OTP (Over temperature Protection) feature.

Hence here I am suspecting the tmperature of the Module was going above the threshold and hence the voltages got reduced. We could not see the temperature of the module as it comes under heat shunt.

A. So I request you to let me know what is the default OTP threshold value for PTH Power modules?

B. Is it possible to set it through any hardware design or It is a fixed default value?

Regards,

Vijetha
