PTN78020HAH maximum output current

I recently started to use the PTN78020HAH dc/dc converter but i cannot seem to find how to control the output current. I use this module to charge some ultracaps from a motor/generator. In the datasheet ( SLTS228B ) it is written that the output current is limited to 6A or 90W output, whichever is less. My output is regulated to 15V so i expect maximum Amps in the output, which is 6. In page 17 of the datasheet, under "current limit protection" it is mentioned (if i understood well) that if 6A is exceeded, then the temperature will be increased leading to the over-temperature protection etc.

In my experiments i have seen output currents of over 6A (sometimes 7 or even 8!) so in order not to burn the module i use a 6.3A fuse on the output. My question is this: is it normal for the module to give output over 6A and if so, using fuse on the output is the only safe way of protecting the module?

    The power module PTN78020HAH and other power modules are not controllable for a constant output voltage versus output current.The module will react to any output load until over-temperature thermal limits overcurrent(OCP) protection function is activated. There is no method for limiting output current

    The power module will source any current above its over-temperature thermal limits and or it can react  to overcurrent(OCP) protection.  The data sheet states
