PTN78020 Inhibit via LVCMOS

We have a previously built board using the PTN78020 module and the inhibit line is brought out directly to a connector. I now have a need to cycle the output of the module and the control signal is a 3.3V buffer output and there isn't a great way to add the recommended MOSFET to the existing board.

The datasheet doesn't explicitly say the inhibit cannot be driven directly and the control signal won't go over the abs. maximum of 5V. I do have the ability to adjust the series resistance from the 3.3V output, but need to know more about how the inhibit pin is connected internally to ensure I can override it correctly.

Can this be done safely, or will I need to find a way to add the required MOSFET to the board?
