DCR010505 Fails to Start Sometimes

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCR010505

I have a DCR010505 running from a bench top psu 5V output, I am using it to generate a -5V supply:

The load on the 5VANA and -5VANA are 6 op-amps each with 100nF decoupling on both +ve and -ve supplies. Total current consumtion is 13mA.

Occasionally, particularly when cold, the DCR010505 does not start up:

Yellow: 5V Bench Top PSU switching on,

Green is the -5VANA supply output.

The normal start up is this:

Does anyone have any ideas as to why it occasionaly fails to start?

Many Thanks.

Gordon

  • Hi Gordon:

I reviewed the schematic and scope data occasional no (-) Vout  under certain startup modes.

Add resistor180kΩ-220kΩ  between Vrec and +Vout The resistor will by pass (+) on the negative Output bus and internal LDO.

  • Hi Tom,

Unfortunately I have seen another fail on the start-up of the  DCR010505. It does not look like the 200K pull-up is solving the issue.

I managed to trigger the scope on both power up :

And also when the -5V kicked into life:

This happened about 30seconds after the power up.

As you can see on power  up the -5V bus rises to about +800mV , I don’t know when it started to oscillate as I haven’t managed to capture it.

This occurs on 2 boards with the same circuit. 1 board is more likely to fail to start than the other. Both have the 200K pull-up. And it seems to happen if the boards have been switched off for a long time (1hour).

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks

    Gordon
