LMZ10501: Benefits of on-board inductor other than saving board space

I understand this part incorporates an onboard inductor on the substrate. Can you help me try to understand the benefits of mounting the inductor on top of the part. I know the inductor is required for operation but was wondering what benefits does it provide other than saving real estate on the PCB?

    Hello Tom, 

    Another advantage is that you don't have to deal with calculating the inductor component values (L, IDC, ISAT, DCR) for your application. As you know, the inductor is a critical component for the proper operation of the switcher.

    Also, there is one less component for procurement and one less component for assembly.
