DCP011515DB: Isolation rating changed worst from previous d.s. to last one ?

Part Number: DCP011515DB

Dear TI support,

I need to clarify the isolation level of your Isolated DC/DC modules DCP01B or DCP02B.

In your previous from last one on the web d.s. you specify that you warranty min 1kVrms for min 60s, :

But in your actual d.s. here of Feb 2017:

http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/dcp010505b.pdf

you have:

So is the device worse than before about isolation ?

Is something wrong in last d.s. ?

Isn’t it with the same isolation that he was till feb 2017 ?

Have you changed something ?

It is very important for my customer that already use it from some years and now maybe they have to change device for to maintain the same level of isolation  required from the application.

Thanks a lot

Antonio

  • Antonio:

DCP01 and DCP02 series original design isolation has always  been  a 1 second 1KV prodcution test.

The external continuous voltage difference limits are defined as voltages as measured between VIN (-) and Vout (-) ground). The converter is designed as ground fault isolation device. It is not designed to operate with a continuous voltage isolation barrier at greater than 60VDC. The isolation 1 second 1kv production test validates only the magnetic coating separation between primary and secondary transformer wire.

The maximum potential difference ( Vin(+) to Vout ground ) as referenced to  a common ground is limited to continuous 60V DC or 42V Peak AC transient between Vin(-) and Output ( ground) . . The primary and secondary transformer wires will contact each other separated by magnet wire over-coating. The transformer wires are single coating material and not dual coated. The UL listing, E199929, voltage limits are SELV or 60VDC continuous or 42V transient peak.
