TPS81256: TPS81256SIP

Part Number: TPS81256

We discovered that the PCB has a via in pad C1 ( Vin ).

Post Assembly we found that Pin C1 was not soldered.

Pin C2 is connected to Vin.

Vin=3.3V ; Vout=5V ; Iomax=75mA.

Question: Pin C1 is connected to Pin-C2 internally to the IC.  Since we can not fix the boards

is there a problem with leaving pin C1 floating ??

The Imax for the device is 500mA ... from our analysis Input current

is well in the range ( not even close to Maximum ).

Any comments about possible issues with this build is greatly appreciated.

  • A floating C1 pin in your application should not be a problem. The two pins are meant to share the current but your working current is low, it should not be an issue.

    However, it appears to be a manufacturing defect. Do you find only one unit or more units like this?
