I have designed a variable voltage motor driver circuit using LM2576HV-ADJ (Based on the a circuit in the data sheet).

Now I need to increase the current output of the circuit to 10A.

Is it possible to use a pass transistor in order to increase the output current?

If it is possible, pls kindly give me more detals.

Thanks.

    Hi Pavithra,

There are ways that you could increase the current capability of the LM2576HV. However, these changes would probably disable protection features such current limit, short circuit protection etc.

You would probably be better off starting with a part like the LM5116, of LM5088.  These controllers will be better able to handle the high voltage and current in your design.  These parts are enabled in Webench, which will give you a custom design based upon you parameters.

    To access webench go to

Look in the bottom right hand corner and start your design.

    Regards,

    Marc
