The LMZ10501SEE is such a sweet part. Now we are in a panic as we just designed a new board using this part. 3 weeks after getting production boards running i get an e-mail from suppler that you discontinued it.

#1) why are you discontinuing such a great part.

#2) what am i to replace it with. you left us hanging. NOT GOOD!

Hello Seulater,

The LMZ10501SEE is being replaced by LMZ10501SHE. It is the same exact part, the only difference is that on the LMZ10501SHE we added a thin layer of epoxy over the chip to improve the package robustness. The overall package height is slightly increased: 1.425mm vs the old 1.15mm.

See the latest datasheet (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lmz10501.pdf) for detailed mechanical drawings.

Unless the new height is an issue for you, you can continue your existing designs and use LMZ10501SHE.

Thanks! that is a great relief.

TI should now do two things.

#1) change the prodcut page for the device to inform people of this. As it still shows the SEE package as active.

#2) inform digikey that when they shoot out a mass e-mail to all the people who have bought this telling them :

"You have purchased the following part number(s) from Digi-Key within the last two years. The manufacturer has announced this part(s) will become obsolete. Please click on the link below for more information on possible substitutes."

when you then click on the possible substitutes link it says there are none. So i would imagine there are going to be more people in a panic.

I am sure other customers have the same issue, but not all of them come to E2E.

...And LMZ10501SHE is now LIFEBUY... TI recommended LMZ10501SIL in uSiP (SIL) case. But no case drawing in datasheet. Perhaps, You have an any information about this case?
