LM3150: Power Consumption

Hello,

I am new to power regulation and working on a project where minimizing power consumption is imperative (fairly low noise would be good too). Can I receive assistance in estimating the power consumption of the LM3150 (Vin=8.2 V and Vout=3.3 V, and I believe the current draw for the load is probably ~1 A or so max)?. Also, are there any suggestions in minimizing the power consumption with this component and/or suggestions for a better one? Thank you and I appreciate your time and consideration!

Have you tried WEBENCH online design tool? You can find it at the lower right hand side of the LM3150 product page: www.ti.com/.../LM3150.
Input your Vin, Vout and load, then start the design. You can turn the nob to tune the tradeoff between efficiency and solution size. High efficiency means less power consumption for the same output power. The tool provides complete design: schematic, BOM, efficency curves, simulations, etc.
