LM2596 Powering GPRS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2596, LM46002

Hello everyone.

I am currently working in GPRS based sollution and i am planning to use an LM2596.

These are the parameters:

Vin: 40V

Vout: 5V

The measured current of the circuit is 700mA (with GPRS transmitting and receiving)

I know the GPRS module have 2A burst. Should I choose the external components with that burst in mind or should I choose them according my current needs?

Which other regulator would you reccomend for this design?

Thanks,

Javier.
