SMPS protective circuit

Sir, I used LM2576adj for my circuit,Actually this circuit for automotive applications,thats why i want to some protective circuit also ,please suggest me what type of circuit i have to use...? INPUTS- 6-24v

outputs 3.9v, 2amp

Hai,sorry for the inconvenience.Actually,i am using 'IL2576adj',for SMPS for the automotive purpose ,but the thing is the voltage range is increasing in some conditions ,so i would like to have some protection circuit for SMPS .The input to the SMPS is 5-20 V,but sometimes,when the vehicle gets started it gradually increases upto 40V. The output of SMPS is 3.9V ,2Amp.So that i need some circuit for the protection.Kindly help me out of this problem.

Easiest thing. Use the 2576HV it has a higher input voltage.

Or take a look at this disconnect circuit snva717 which uses a pFET to disconnect the input when Vin is above the programmed Voltage.
