Hi TI,

   In my design , battery as input supply 3AA battery  i.e 4.5V i want to rise an alarm when battery below 20 or 40 % it varies as per the design and  ouput is given to GPIO of MCU . i would like to know from above mentioned which IC series will be suitable for my application and pin compatible so that if any problem i can change IC alone. since all the IC mentioned are Adjustable ,i want to choose anyone of it.  please assist me in choosing SVS .

  • Hi Chiranjeev,

    All of devices are adjustable as you mentioned and can be configured to set your threshold.  You can choose any of them based on additional features, timing, and current requirements based on your application.  These devices all come in different packages.

              In TPS3808G01 datasheet it is mentioned as High Threshold Accuracy: 0.5% typ.  i dint get . what i understood  is  accuracy very less? ..

    And i would like to have your suggestion on battery operared circuit.

     i m using 3xAA(4.5V) L91 Battery . what would be the threshold? suppose i will set threshold as 3.6 voltage at approx. voltage i will get intimation from Reset pin.

    The accuracy says that the threshold will be within 0.5% of the ideal threshold at room temp (25C). For the TPS3808G01, the accuracy is 1% typical.


    For the battery warning point you will need to consult with the battery manufacturer for assistance.

    I consulted the battery manufacturer for assistant , their answer  as follows,

    The voltage discharge curve of our L91 AA lithium battery is relatively flat with a steep drop off at the end of life. The attached 100 mA discharge curve for our E91 AA alkaline and L91 AA lithium batteries shows this characteristic of performance. In general, the battery capacity remaining in an L91 battery when discharged to 1.2 volts is very minimal. Depending on your drain rate and actual circuitry minimum voltage required, increasing to a 1.3 volt or 1.35 low battery alert threshold may be worth considering. Also, please be aware that ambient temperature can impact the L91 AA voltage discharge profile. 
    my questions is for this type of Sudden flat characteristics Battery , which
    TI SVS IC  is will be suitable and acccurate ? and cost effective.(to monitor one threshold point)

    The are numerous SVS IC's that would be suitable for your application with the accuracy that you need. From what I know, you want 1 supply monitored, a low Iq as it will be battery powered, and a good accuracy specification. The TPS3808 that you inquired about earlier should suit your needs, otherwise I would advise taking a look through our catalog and using the parameter filters to find a product that exactly fits your needs (such as the size, package, cost, supply range, etc.).
