Voltage supervisor for 5 voltage monitors

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS386000

Hi All,

Our customer need the supervisor IC which can monitor five (5) rails and output reset signal when the all rails reach proper voltage. TPS386xxx close to their requirement but it can monitor only four rails. So do you have any solution for following ?

  1. The supervisor IC that can monitor 5 rails
  2. Application circuit for monitoring 5 rails by using TPS386xxx

  • Sonoki,

There are a few different options and I'll need to know more about the problem before being able to assist you. A few questions for you:

    1) What are the rail voltages?

    2) Are the rails being generated by LDO's or switchers? If so, do the parts generating the rails have a PG pin? Or even better, can you tell me the part numbers being used for the LDO's and switchers?

    3) Would the customer consider using 2 supervisors? And if not, is it because of design complexity, board space, or do they want just a single reset signal?

    Thank you,

    David

  • Hi David,

Thank you for your response. Here is the answer for your question.

    1) What are the rail voltages?

    • 14V, 10V, 5V, 3.3V, -8.5V

    2) Are the rails being generated by LDO's or switchers? If so, do the parts generating the rails have a PG pin? Or even better, can you tell me the part numbers being used for the LDO's and switchers?

    • All rails are generated by LDO
    • All LDO do not have PG output
    • These part number can not be disclosed (not TI parts)

    3) Would the customer consider using 2 supervisors? And if not, is it because of design complexity, board space, or do they want just a single reset signal?

    • Today I promoted TPS386000 because it can monitor up to 5 rails by using the configuration like Fig.31 in datasheet.
    • They decided to evaluate the EVM, then I have been asked one question. I already posted it on other thread, can you support it?

Please let me close this thread and continue to discuss about TPS386000 at following thread.
