TPS3305 questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3305, TPS386596

Using TPS3305-33DGNR to monitor 5V and 3.3VDC.  We connect the MR pin to a push button switch for manual reset during development.  This part includes a watchdog input which we do not use (left floating).

  1. What is the correct input state for Pin 7 for a design using the TPS3305 without a watchdog signal?
  2. Is there a pin-compatible replacement for the TPS3305 that does not have a watchdog input?
  3. Is there a more cost effective replacement for the TPS3305 that can be used to sense 3.3V/5V and provide an input for a manual switch with outputs similar to the 3305?

  • Jaden,

To disable the watchdog leave the WDI pin (pin 3) floating. More on this can be found here:

The MR/ pin should not be effected by disabling the watchdog. It is internally pulled high so for normal operation you can just leave the MR/ pin floating, and bring it low with the push-button.

For a part without a watchdog input, you could look at the TPS3707-50 but it is not P2P.

The TPS386596 would be another option, but again not P2P.
