TPS3813I50-Q1 RESET when IC OFF

Dear team,

I'm FAE in TI Korea Automotive. I have one quick question from my customer.

their MCU stops sending the signal to WDI pin when the MCU 'downloads' something. but our IC sends RESET signal if it does not receive WDI value regularly. So they are trying to turn off the reset IC when the MCU downloads something and it makes sense because RESET pin is always pulled up by a resistor. Can we do like that?

Regards,

Ian Lee

  • HI Ian,

Without additional circuitry, there is no way to disable the watch-dog once it sees its first edge.

There may be a way with external FET's to cut power to the reset IC along with the reset pin while the MCU is downloading its update. However, to do this in a way that works, you would need to be sure these same FET's are on during power up. Can you think of how to do this based on your MCU?

    Regards,
