LP3470: LP3470 / Bypass capacitor to VCC

Part Number: LP3470
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hi,

I found that there is description about bypass capacitor to VCC in datasheet page 9 as attached. But there is no bypass capacitor at typical application, layout example and also TINA-TI model. So do you recommend to add bypass capacitor? Or is no bypass capacitor needed if negative going VCC transients will not be problem?

Best Regards,

  • Satoshi,

If the supply is very stable (like in the ideal application, ideal layout, spice model) then no need for the bypass capacitor. If the supply could potentially vary or provide glitches of width greater than what is shown to be allowed in Fig 6 or even if the supply is far away from the device, I recommend bypass capacitor to provide additional transient immunity.
