TPS386000-Q1: SENSE voltage between Vhys+ and Vhys-

Part Number: TPS386000-Q1

Hi

I would like to know how this device operate when the SENSE voltage keeps at between Vhys+ and Vhys- as the following.

How the RESET signal will be if the SENSE voltage goes the above region in short time(Ta)?   (Ta<Td)

  • Koji,

Note: Vhys- = V_ITN and Vhys+ = V_ITP in the Table 6.5 from the datasheet.

The TPS386000-Q1 has 4 SENSE pins with Vhys- (SENSE1, SENSE2, SENSE3, and SENSE4L) and 1 SENSE pin with Vhys+ (SENSE4H). If the voltage at the SENSE pin with Vhys- follows the curve above, the device will return from reset condition (after Td) once the voltage at this pin is V_HYSN (3.5mV) above Vhys- for more than 4us (minimum pulse width needed to detect) regardless of if Td finished or not. The device will only reset again if the voltage at this pin drops below Vhys- threshold which is not the case in the above curve which means the device will not be in reset condition so the /RESET pin will still be high in this case.

If this curve is on the SENSE4H pin with the Vhys+, then the device will reset when the voltage rises over Vhys+ and will remain in reset condition (low) until the voltage drops below V_HYSP (3.5mV) below Vhys+ (for at least 4us) then the delay Td occurs then the device returns from reset condition and the /RESET pin is high again.

Note: /RESET4 output pin is controlled by both SENSE4L and SENSE4H input pins.

I hope this helps you! Please let me know if anything is confusing or if you have any more questions! Thank you for using our devices.

  • Hi Michael,

    Thank you for your support.

Regarding SENSE1~3 and SENSE4L, as you mentioned above the minimum pulse width is needed more than 4us.
This means that the SENSEx(1~3,4L) voltage should be exceed the V_HYSN more than 4us.
** 4us is "Ta" at the above(top of this post) waveform. (in the case of Ta < Td)

Is that correct even if the threshold is configured by external resistor as the following document?
