TPS3851: Programmable watchdog timeout input(CWD pin)

Hi

My customer request confirm that Can i use capacitor value over 1uF for 5's watchdog timerout input extention.

They are used TPS3851G33SDRBR(standard version). So they are checked that modify cap value up to 10uF, they have a good result.(adjusted up about 40's)

However, The datasheet of TPS3851 was written as below.

Could you check this issue?

    SeongIl,

    We can't guarantee the performance outside of the recommended operating conditions. I believe the 1uF is the max recommended value because of the time is takes to discharge that capacitor. You might be able to increase the capacitance but could lose timing accuracy if the capacitor does not discharge/charge completely each cycle. If you want 40 seconds watchdog timeout, consider using the extended timing option which allows up to 77.45 seconds with 1uF. See notes 1 & 2 under table 6.3 on page 4 of the datasheet.
