TPS3700: Setting undervoltage limit

Guru 16770 points
Part Number: TPS3700
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3711, TPS3710

We are referring "monitoring overvoltage and undervoltage for separte rails" from the datasheet.

Only undervoltage would be monitored.

The followings are questions.

1.
How can we set undervoltage limit?
How to calculate resistor value?

2.
Is there voltage limitation for differential input?
For example, could it be allowed that INA is lager than INB?

  • Hello,

    1. To set undervoltage limit, please use section 8.2.2.1 Resistor Divider Selection to calculate the resistor values. This is on page 15 of the datasheet. http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps3700.pdf

    2. INA can not be larger than INB because there is a voltage drop from INA to INB provided by the resistors. If you short INA and INB, then they will be the same but this is not recommended.

This is not the recommended device if you are only using undervoltage monitor. Please use the undervoltage only version of this device. TPS3710 is undervoltage only and up to 18V input voltage. TPS3711 is undervoltage only and up to 36V input voltage. Datasheets are below.

    http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/sbvs271/sbvs271.pdf  (up to 18V undervoltage)

    http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps3711.pdf (up to 36V undervoltage)

Please find the resistor calculations in the datasheets. Let me know if you have any other questions or need any additional support. Thanks!
