TL7700: additional capacitor at the SENSE pin

Guru 20090 points
Part Number: TL7700

Hello

Our customer would like to add a capacitor to the SENSE pin of the TL7700.
Are there any limit on the capacitance at the SENSE pin or any restrict?

In the customer, there is a possibility that a low pulse of 1 ms will input the SENSE pin, but they do not want to detect Reset in this case, so they are considering adding capacitors.

Best Regards,
Ryuji

  • Hello,

Sorry for bothering you but the customer would like to get the reply as soon as possible.
I appreciate it you would support this post.

  • Ryuji,

Capacitors on SENSE pin is ok. No problem. 1ms pulse is long time though because the sense pulse is usually 2us but you should be able to add capacitors to extended this pulse time to prevent false triggers.

  • Hello Michael san,

    I appreciate your support.
I understood that there is no maximum capacitor restriction.
    Is my understanding correct?

Our customer would like to add 10uF capacitance.
Also, there is  possibility that the Vcc<Vsense situation by the sequence.
I think that there is no problem regarding absolute maximum ratings.
But if there is any concern please let me know.

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji

  • Ryuji san,

You are correct. No maximum capacitance. And no problem if Vcc < Vsense as long as ABS MAX specs are maintained. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you!
