Hi,

The voltage of the  INA and INB inputs are limited to voltages between -.3 to +7 volts per spec. Is it correct to assume that there are two diodes connected to each input for static protection (clamping the input between approximately VDD and ground)?  I would like to extend the range to -1 to +7 but would limit the current to 200 micro amps for the negative input voltages. Would this be possible?

Regards,

  • Bill,

You are correct that there are internal diodes used for clamping protection but we unfortunately can not guarantee any performance beyond those found in the ABS MAX specs table. We only test and thus guarantee to those parameters so I can not speak on using the device outside of those provided limits. I apologize for not being able to provide a definite answer for this.
