UCD90120A FAN control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD90120A, UCD90124, UCD90124A

Can you provide an example for  4 wires FAN controlling with UCD90120A  ?

I don't know how to configure FAN  ?

  • Hi Peng,

We are sorry that UCD90120A doesn't have a FAN control function. UCD90124 has this FAN control ability.

    Best,

    Luke

  • I still don't understand.

In UCD90120A's datasheet, FPWMs can be configured as fan controllers. page 23.
  • Hi Peng,

You can refer to Page 29 of UCD90124A  to see detailed description of  FAN control.  For UCD90124A, we already have FAN control algorithm inside.

For UCD90120A,  we don't have a FAN control algorithm in, But don't worry, you still can use UCD90120A to control FAN by your own methods. For example,

when your PMBUS host get the temperature, it can send PMBUS command to UCD90120A to change the duty cycle of PWM signal(PWM output signal you use to control FAN), then it can change the FAN speed . Hope it useful for you.

    Best,

    Luke

  • I have another question about Enable.

A rail is used as a power-supply enable only, the enable signal also configure voltage parameters (warn/fault...)  in rail config  .

I think that enable signal  don't need to setted  OVER fault, OVER WARN ,un warn,un fault ...and so  on.

  • Hi Peng,

The enable signal also configure voltage parameters in rail config? what is this mean?

Do you mean you have two power rail? For example, One is 1V power rail, the second is 2V power rail. You want to use Rail #1 of UCD90120A to enable 1V power rail, and  monitor 2V power rail (Voltage ,current, temp)?

If so, I think you can do that as long as your fault response logic make sense.

    BR,

    Luke
